Mary has been passionate about music
since she started playing the piano at age four. Growing up in a large
musical family fueled her fascination with music and gave her the
versatility to perform folk, western swing, blues and spiritual music.
As a teen, Mary learned 40’s era swing tunes from her father
and performed in a swing trio with the Santa Fe Theatre Company. In
college at Colorado State University, she studied Dance, Music and
Human Development while singing with a folk trio throughout northern
Colorado. Her next audience was her three children who became the
focus of her time and music while they were young. She began playing
guitar and singing with a local bluegrass band and performed western
swing at a guest ranch for several years while directing music for
a local church. As a result of her search for a new musical challenge,
Mary began learning jazz standards in 2000. Jazz takes Mary back to
listening to her father play upright bass and brings her into the
best music she has ever performed.
